This past May the Diocese of Providence announced the creation of the Office of Family, Youth, and Young Adult Evangelization, whose mission will be to accompany and support parishes in the mission of forming disciples: bringing families, youth, and young adults into relationship with Christ.
At that time the Diocese immediately began a search to hire a director for the new office. An interview committee comprised of priests, parish lay leaders and diocesan staff interviewed multiple candidates and proposed one of those candidates to fill this role. We are grateful to the committee members for their fruitful work.
With thanksgiving to God, we are pleased to announce that Dennis Sousa has been appointed Director of the Office of Family, Youth, and Young Adult Evangelization by Bishop Henning.
Dennis most recently served as the Director of Faith Formation for Saint Phillip Church in Greenville, a role he held since 2011. Additionally, he has significant experience in construction and finance, and previously served in the United States Army as an Airborne Ranger Medic.
He has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Master of Arts in Theology from Providence College. Also, Dennis is completing a Master of Arts in Catechetics and Evangelization through Franciscan University of Steubenville and is in the Diaconate Program of Formation for the Diocese of Providence.
Dennis is a faithful husband and father. He is a disciple who is passionate about the mission of the Church to evangelize.
Please join us in praying for Dennis as he begins this new role in service of the Diocese.
