We are thrilled to announce the appointment of Jennifer Sousa as the new principal of Monsignor Clarke School. Mrs. Sousa steps into the role following the retirement of Dr. Arthur Lisi, who has served the Monsignor Clarke community with dedication and passion for the past seven years.
Jennifer resides in Scituate, RI, alongside her husband, Dennis, and their daughter, Grace. She brings over 25 years of dedicated experience in education and ministry to our school community.
A seasoned educational leader and passionate science educator, Jennifer has an extensive background in both public and private school settings. Her academic journey is marked by a steadfast commitment to both scientific and educational excellence. She holds a Bachelor’s degree in Education from Rhode Island College and a Master’s of Science Degree from the University of Rhode Island (URI).
Jennifer's commitment to fostering academic excellence is evident through her numerous achievements and accolades. She has been nominated for the prestigious Presidential Awards for Excellence in Mathematics & Science Teaching and was honored as the District Teacher of the Year by Johnston Public Schools. Her expertise in grant writing has led to significant awards and grants for educational programming and technological advancements in her schools. Throughout her career, Jennifer has been instrumental in developing and coordinating various academic and extracurricular programs.
In addition to her educational accomplishments, Jennifer has a profound love for God and His Church. As the interim Director of Faith Formation & Evangelization at St. Brendan’s Catholic Church, she demonstrated exceptional leadership and inspired community engagement. Her earlier roles include serving as an Education Specialist and Program Coordinator at Kids First Inc., where she managed multiple educational programs.
Jennifer's dedication to evangelization extends beyond her professional roles. She has been actively involved with the Diocese of Providence, supporting youth ministry, faith formation, and various retreats and seminars. Her commitment to academic excellence and dedication to fostering a school community that promotes Catholic discipleship and faith in Jesus Christ is unwavering.
