February 11, 2025Newlyweds from around the diocese gathered for a night of faith, food, and fun in February to celebrate National Marriage Week at the Cathedral of SS. Peter & Paul. Father Thomas Woodhouse of St. Paul Parish in Cranston and several couples married for decades offered practical advice and encouragement to the newly-married couples. Tours of the cathedral, a photo-booth, door prizes, and time for prayer were also part of the evening. The event was such a success it will be held again in February 2026!I attended Newlywed Night with my husband, feeling excited but with suspended attachment to any expectation due to the fact we hadn’t attended anything like this before, so there was some uncertainty around what the evening would bring.
From the moment we walked in, I instantly felt at ease after a warm greeting by the Host and was delighted by the night ahead after she graciously provided us with information on how the night would be loosely structured.
This event was packed with so many valuable components! My husband and I socialized with many new couples, listened to Father Woodhouse speak on the importance and beauty of keeping Christ at the center of your marriage and ended the night in prayer in the breathtaking Cathedral.
I left this event feeling energized by the incredible community I unexpectedly found, with a deeper desire to grow in faith individually and together with my husband as we navigate our first year of marriage and many more to come. I look forward to the next event!
