Dr. Jim Power, Superintendent of Schools for the Diocese of Providence, has announced his departure from the diocese for another opportunity effective June 7.
Jim has led the Catholic Schools Office since July of 2022. He has accepted a new role as President of Brebeuf Jesuit, a Catholic high school in Indianapolis. “We are grateful for Jim’s service to the Diocese of Providence,” said Michael Lavigne, Secretary for Evangelization and Pastoral Planning. “He is a faith-filled man who believes strongly in the evangelizing activity of Catholic schools. We pray that God will bless him abundantly as he begins a new chapter in his life.”
Jim Power reflected on his tenure as superintendent saying, “I am grateful to both Bishop Tobin and Bishop Henning, who led the Diocese of Providence during my time. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time working in the Catholic Schools Office. I feel so lucky to have had the chance to work with the incredible principals who lead our schools. They are an inspiring group of educators.”
The Diocese of Providence will be assessing next steps for hiring a new Superintendent over the coming weeks.
