Mary Lee Newman was raised in Providence, the youngest of four children in the Newman family. She graduated from Holy Name of Jesus School and Mount Pleasant High School.
Mary Lee worked for Blue Cross Blue Shield for six years, and the Rhode Island Department of Transportation filing several clerical positions and retiring after thirty-two years of service. She began working in 2018 as an Office Assistant in the Office of the Apostolate with People with Disabilities.
Mary Lee joined the SPRED Ministry at St. Matthew Church in Cranston and has been involved in SPRED for over twenty years at St. Benedict Church, St. Patrick Church and St. Timothy Church. Mary Lee love to share her faith with the families with people with disabilities. “Gives me so much joy to see how happy our friends with disabilities are when we get together in our communities.”
She joined the Daughters of Isabella in 2008, at St. Benedict Church, where she held several offices and served as Regent for the St. Benedict Circle No 423 for four years.
As a young adult, she moved to Warwick, where she now lives and was a member of St. William Parish until the Church closed. Mary Lee was an active member in the Parish and sang in the St. William Choir for over thirty years. She is currently a member of St. Timothy Parish in Warwick.
